I’m trying to configure the MP in my test environment, which I will possibly extend to a large number of ESX servers.

Although you explicitly mention that the MP is not supported in any way, I think it will be a good idea to establish a forum that the users can discuss: there are many SCOM Admins/Authours who are not so knowledgable as you.
